Hakia Search – 2004

hakia has been an Internet search engine whose company was founded in 2004 and operated with an online service until April 2014. The company invented something called QDEXing technology, an infrastructure to index websites that used a SemanticRank algorithm that leveraged on ontological semantics, fuzzy logic, computational linguistics, and mathematics. The SERP from hakia distinguished itself for the “Credible website section”. Above all it was of great help to bring search into a new dimension by using semantic technologies. Hakia allowed for instance to search for “painkillers” and “headache,” but could turn up results for “Tylenol”  that, while semantically related, didn’t use either of those words.
