To bring the reader on your side, you have to show the rules of your world and to create a\u00a0bond of trust upon them. You can surprise your reader with unexpected events, but you can&#8217;t introduce anything that is inconsistent with your fictional world.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, the reader will follow you with a voluntary\u00a0&#8211; and a temporary &#8211;<strong> <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"willing suspension of disbelief\" href=\"https:\/\/wordlift.io\/blog\/en\/entity\/suspension-of-disbelief\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0216\/entity\/suspension_of_disbelief;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.09jhp;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Suspension_of_disbelief\" >suspension of disbelief<\/a><\/strong>. While reading, your story, the reader will try to follow and believe you, but be careful: this suspension\u00a0of disbelief is a very fragile state. To create a bond of trust with their readers, journalists and newspapers have to <strong>follow an editorial code<\/strong>\u00a0and respect their readers&#8217; need for <strong>clarity and coherence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">As so much in the world of news and information changes, the fundamental bond of trust between journalists and the communities they serve is one of the few things that doesn\u2019t. In fact, its importance has grown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><strong>Craig Silverman<\/strong> on the <em><strong>American Press Institute<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With a <strong>growing number of sources of information and news<\/strong>, sticking upon a bond of trust is more relevant than ever.
