Internet bots, also known as web robots, WWW robots or simply bots, are software applications that run automated tasks over the Internet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A\u00a0bot\u00a0performs tasks that are simple\u00a0and extremely\u00a0repetitive\u00a0– the advantage is that these tasks can be performed at a much higher rate than possible for any\u00a0human (yes, I know some of us are pretty damn fast when poking on a keyboard ?). The largest use of bots is made during\u00a0web spidering, when\u00a0an automated script fetches, analyzes and files information from web servers.<\/p>\n

In this blog, when referring to Internet bots we usually\u00a0refer to chat bots.\u00a0A\u00a0chat bot is an application designed to\u00a0<\/span>simulate human conversations\u00a0that might use\u00a0– at some point-\u00a0artificial intelligence<\/span>. Chat bots are designed to interact with<\/span>\u00a0real people or\u00a0to exchange information with other automatas. Our work with the plugin WordLift is to help people organize and structure their knowledge so that it can\u00a0be\u00a0exposed to\u00a0machines, such as chat bots, crawlers and smart agents. <\/span><\/p>\n

Chat bots – when using artificial intelligence – access to deep vocabularies such as the ones that WordLift creates to interact with users. Chat bots use a technology called\u00a0natural language generation<\/em>\u00a0(NLG<\/em>)\u00a0to create\u00a0natural language sentences.<\/span><\/p>\n
